Mt. Pleasant Wastewater Treatment Plant

French-Reneker has been involved in the design and construction of water distribution systems, water treatment plants, wells, reservoirs, and rural water systems in Iowa and northern Missouri for over 50 years.  Don French was a pioneer in the use of wastewater lagoons in the Midwest.  Don designed the first wastewater lagoon to be approved by the State of Missouri, and was considered an authority on the subject.

The recently completed Mt. Pleasant wastewater treatment plant is a 4.0 mgd sequencing batch reactor activated sludge wastewater treatment facility  The process uses centrifugal grit removal and rotating screens ahead of the batch reactors.  Sludge is processed using aerobic digestors, gravity belt thickening and land application.

This project began with a preliminary report in 1994.  The project selected by the City of Mt. Pleasant included the construction of a new 4.0 mgd sequencing batch reactor activated sludge wastewater treatment facility located approximately 3 miles south of Mt. Pleasant.  The total project has involved 5 lettings which have included 2 major interceptor sewers, a detention basin, 2 forcemains, 2 major lift stations, a new wastewater treatment plant, and demolition and conversion of structures at the existing wastewater treatment plant into detention facilities.
