The
initial startup of the new Fairfield Electro-Dialysis Reversal Water
Treatment Facility began in early April.
This project is the last and largest of several elements of the
recent update to the Fairfield water system, which was designed by
French-Reneker-Associates. The update included a new Jordan-aquifer well, raw watermain
connecting the new well to the water treatment plant, and replacement of
many
deteriorated mains located throughout the Fairfield water system.

The Electro Dialysis Reversal (EDR) System uses
electrical current to attract dissolved minerals or ions in the raw
water. These impurities can
be periodically flushed from the treatment system.
The EDR process is particularly suited for the removal of
sulfates, hardness, and radioactive components from the raw water, and
results in a high level of purity in the finished water which is
provided to the community.
